Beyond the Screen

Keeping Online Educators Inspired and Motivated

An Erasmus+ project to empower adult educators with digital resilience and innovative tools for long-term online teaching

The Beyond the Screen Project

The shift to online education has transformed teaching practices, but it has also highlighted a critical, often overlooked challenge: the motivation and well-being of educators themselves. The Beyond the Screen project (2025–2027), funded by Erasmus+ (KA220-ADU), aims to equip adult educators with practical resources to sustain their engagement and effectiveness in long-term online teaching. Through a self-assessment tool, an interactive e-trainers manual (featuring vidcasts and comic strips), and a peer-to-peer support network, we place educators’ well-being at the heart of digital education transformation.

Why This Project?

The pandemic accelerated the digitalization of education, but many adult educators now face burnout: silent virtual classrooms, disengaged learners, and a sense of isolation. Yet, few resources exist to help them sustain their own motivation. Beyond the Screen addresses this gap by providing tools designed by and for educators, turning challenges into opportunities for learning and collaboration.

Our Objectives:

  • Raise awareness of the importance of educators’ digital well-being.

  • Equip educators with a self-assessment tool and an interactive manual (vidcasts, comic strips).

  • Create an informal peer-support network.

  • Innovate with engaging formats (animated videos, comic strips) to diversify teaching methods.

Target Audience:

  • Adult educators, trainers, tutors, and educational organizations (formal/non-formal) across Europe.

An interactive questionnaire to help educators identify their motivation profile and skills gaps. Powered by machine learning, it evolves with each use to provide personalized feedback. Available in 6 languages, it complements the EU’s SELFIE tool by focusing on emotional resilience in digital teaching.

2

Blended Workshop for E-Educators

A dynamic, two-stage workshop designed to bridge the gap between educators’ needs and innovative digital tools. This blended format (online sessions + face-to-face collaboration) mobilizes the expertise of 15 educators from across Europe to co-create resources that truly reflect their challenges and aspirations.

2

Interactive E-Trainers Manual

A practical guide featuring vidcasts (animated and recorded videos) and comic strips, illustrating real-life examples of what motivates or demotivates educators online. Tips are organized by learner age groups (Baby Boomers, Gen Z, etc.) for tailored approaches
